How can we get the check sum for a particular blob column of a record in the db table.
You can generate a checksum for a row in a table or for a string literal value, but not for a specific column in a row. You can read here:
Thank you for the response. Also wanted to know about this approach. what if I copy that particular blob column of a record in the db table to a temporary table (using the create table reports as select blob column from blobtable where some id = 1). This way the temporary table will be having only one column then we can get the rowid for that row and call the OWA_OPT_LOCK.CHECKSUM passing the rowid and other parameters. Do you think this approach is good.
As long as the 'temporary' table isn't a global temporary table that should work.
