    hai all ..

    I need to send notification emails to the owners of content if the content is getting expired. I did a quick search and found that it can be done through a process called subscription. But I have not idea what this subscription is.

    Do we need to create a hcsp file with some code related to subscription or something else ?

    Please give me details on this issue.

    You should read the Documentation:

    Notification of Expiration can be used to provide an email notification to the document authors and administrators when content items are approaching their expiration date, and enables you to search for expired content or content that is about to expire.

    With the 7.x Version of Content Server, the Notification of Expiration component is now built into the Content Server. To turn on the Notification of Expiration in 7.x you need to set EnableExpirationNotifier=1 in the <stellent_dir>/config/config.cfg file and restart the content server.

    Additional settings which may be useful when using the Notification of Expiration feature are shown below.

    Verity Query that is run to find the expired documents for the notification.

    For 7.1 the default query is:
    dOutDate > <$dateCurrent()$> <AND> dOutDate < <$dateCurrent(7)$>

    For 7.1.1, 7.5, 7.5.1 the default query is:
    dOutDate > `<$dateCurrent()$>` <AND> dOutDate < `<$dateCurrent(7)$>`

    You should set this parameter to be the same as the 7.1.1 default if you are using 7.1.

    Maximum number of documents returned from the “NotificationQuery”.
    Default is 1000.

    Example: NotificationMaximum=500

    Denotes the administration users who receive the notification emails with list of all the content that matched the query. Removing this entry from config.cfg will default to "sysadmin". If you leave the value blank, no extra notification will be sent.

    Example: NotifyExtras=<user1>,<user2>

    The time of day to send the notification.

    For 7.1 the default is: 12:01 AM. Format is hh:mm AM/PM

    For 7.1.1, 7.5, 7.5.1 the default is: 00:01. Use the 24 clock format.

    NOTE: For non-US locales, the user will need to override this variable to make it compatible with 24-hour time formats that don’t use the AM or PM designation. For example, to keep the default time you would need to set NotifyTime=00:01

    Example: NotifyTime=00:01

    This determines how often the Notification of expiration event is run. The default is 1.

    This fields determines which metadata fields are available for use in the Notification email template.

    The default is

    Example: NotificationFieldNames= dDocAuthor,dOutDate,dDocTitle,dDocName,dDocType,dID,dInDate,dRevLabel,dSecurityGroup,xComments

    Note: If you set this setting you should keep the default fields as well as the fields that you are adding. These fields are used in the default notification template.

    This option allows you have plain text emails sent for the notifications.

    The default is false.

    Example: NOEUsePlainTextEmail=true
