    Hello,

Oracle Support encouraged me to post this on the internet to get a better sense what the de facto standard is on this topic. They clearly communicated to me that storing files (Wallet, RMAN, Data Pump etc.) in 12c and later should be done in ASM and not to explicitly create an ACFS file system for shared files as I mentioned above. I only want to share the files mentioned and not binaries etc.

In other words, are any of you with a new Oracle 12.x RAC database environment going out of your way to create an ACFS file system to share these file types (Wallet, RMAN, Data Pump etc.) or are you using pure ASM for these files too?

Note: In posting this I know there are many cases where you dont need share RMAN and Data Pump files between all nodes. You can run RMAN and Data Pump to create files on just one node's file system.

    Thanks for you input!

    Michael
