How i get machine name (name of pc client)?

    Hi everyone
    i have one pc client got damage (missing file system)..
    (we have the system acounting created by oracle) however..
    after i install new windows, oracle client and set the system ..
    the problem when i try to open the (application system acounting) a message shown there is error your machine name (pc name) not exist in oracle server..
    the question how i get machine name (name of pc client) from server?
    help will greatly appreciated.

    Did you use the same image as before on the new PC? If so the machine name could be in the registry entries that were copied over in the image and that name won't match the new PC name. You will likely need to update the registry with the new PC name or start a completely new Oracle installation that will populate the registry correctly.

    The machine name is found under Start->Computer->Properties. I'm not sure where in the registry that would be so it's probably best to create a fresh install of oracle (saving any configuration files like tnsnames.ora, listener.ora, sqlnet.ora, etc. to be copied into the new installation.
