What does rollforward mean?

    Hello guys,

    Does anybody know what does rollforward mean? I know rollback but I dont know rollforward. Do you have any ideas?

    It's a recovery term used when current archivelogs are applied to an earlier backup that's been restored; it can bring a database backed up, say, two weeks ago to the current state given that the archivelogs are available.

    Recovers a database by applying transactions recorded in the database log files. Invoked after a database or a table space backup image has been restored. Any table spaces have been taken offline by the database due to a media error. The database must be recoverable..
    For this way rollforward used in back up purpose....
