It's very likely your SGA is very large and it may exceed the limits of the installed RAM (you can't have all of it allocated to your shared_pool because the O/S needs some memory to function and you do need memory for connected sessions). Resize your shared pool to a smaller value and see if that corrects the problem.

Virtual memory is swap, it's not the installed RAM. How much RAM is installed?

WHERE did you see this alert?? OEM/Grid Control? Was it in reference to a database instance or the operating system? You need to provide more inforomation on where this alert was reported and in what context.

    Its in OEM.
I beleive this in OS config.
    The exact alert is
" Significant virtual memory paging was detected on the host "
It listed in ADDM findings also.

You then need to work with the System Administrator to discover what is causing all of this paging/swap activity. It may be Oracle, it may be some other process. Simply because OEM reports this is not an indication that Oracle is at fault.

Which means what, exactly? Who is this 'someone'? Of what relevance is your 'contribution' to the thread? What value does it provide?

Possily this explanation should have been posted instead of your original cryptic response.
