    Hi,

Is there a service to update meta data for all document in this folder an all subfolder document

    Example:

    top Folder
    -document a
    level1 folder 1
    -document 1-1-a
    level2 Folder1
    -document 2-1-a
    -document 2-1-b
    level1 Folder2
    -document 1-2-a

I want to update the metadata xTest=123 for all documents starting at the top Folder.
It is possibel that there is a service but I didn't found it or is it needed to write custom code?

    Thanks for help
    Christoph

No there is no such service, but you can always just update the DOCMETA table for all your DIDs

ya.. u can do that, it would be quite simple to write one. Or if it's just something you want to do once, you can always directly go to the database and update.

Why don't you use the default UCM Folders (folder_g component) functionality Propagate?

The only thing to make sure is that you set the metadata field that should accept the inherited metadata value. How?

    Well, do the following:
    1. Logon in UCM as sysadmin.
    2. Choose Administration - Folder Configuration - Information Field Inherit Configuration
    3. Select the field that will, on a subfolder level, inherit the metadata value from the higher (folder) level.
    4. Click Update.

Go to the folder in the windows explorer. Change the metadata value. After the changes have been saved, select the folder with the changed metadata value, click the right mouse button and select in the quickmenu: "Propagate". The subfolders will then inherit the changed metadata value.

You can use the folder archiver component to do this.

    1) Install the component and create archive using it. select the required folders (subfolders automatically get selected)
    2) go to archiver utility and update export maps if required
    3) export the contents.
    4) reimport the contents applying specific rules using import maps
