    Here's a stupid question.

I have an APEX application where a text field with an entry that looks like this :

    This is line 1
    This is line 2
    This is line 3

And on submit I insert that into the database.

However, on creating a standard report and querying that back out it show up as :

This is line 1 This is line 2 This is line 3

...and I'm wondering if that is fixable. ???

    Thanks!

Well, I learned a couple of things...including that I can't spell when I'm not awake.

I fixed it. For anybody that's interested here's the issue and what to do about it.

Generally, any standard report is going to define it's columns with the following display type:

Display as text (escape special characters, does not save state)

And that is where the problem was as carriage returns and such are "special". So, if you are reporting on a text field where somebody has entered a paragraph and you want the display to look as it was entered do the following.

    1. Open the report in question
    2. Go to the Report Attributes
    3. Edit the column in question
    4. Go to the Column Attributes area
    5. Change the "Display As" to "Text Area"
    6. If needed, change the "Element Width" to something appropriate

    And done...

    HTH everybody! ;-)
