    Hi All

I checked the parameter data type-- it is character.
i tried it by changing it to DATE data type ('mon-yyyy') and its not erroring out any more. but it is not useful, as the report needs these parameters as char only.
I feel there is issue with the data types,

I dont know why the report doesnt want to take mar-2014 as char for 1029 organization only.
fOr rest of the organization, its working fine.
Any suggestions.. please share.... its really urgent.

    Thanks and Regards

Who wrote this report? Have you checked the data for this '1029' organization? Is it possible to post the code for this report so we all can see what it's doing? You've essentially walked to the auto repair shop, said "my car isn't running" and provided no clue as to why.

Did this report ever work? If so, was it recently changed? I suspect the parameter is being used in a query and the query is not doing a data conversion OR not doing a character conversion on the column its being matched to. But that's just a guess. Other places to check include the Before Report triggers and any PL/SQL processes that may be attached.

    Hi CJ and David

The report is working fine for all situations even for 1029 org.
but it is failing for MAR-2014 AS Parameter in 1029.
if i run the report for 1140 organization with mar-2014, it is working fine.

PROBLEM IS am unable to upload the rdf.
Can i Mail you guys the rdf??
    So ANY suggestion??

    Thanks and Regards
    Neelam

I'm not a GL guy so a reference to 1029 and 1140 doesn't mean a thing to me. Nor do I know what 'situations' are available for a 1029. Here's what I do know (or think I know).

This is a Concurrent Report running in Oracle EBS for General Ledger.
It's a custom report...meaning it's not part of the default delivered reports.
This report has a parameter, ostensibly for a Date...
    - Will the report run w/o a value in that parameter?
    - Will the report run w/ any OTHER date in that parameter?
That the report runs w/ the date for an 1140 org can mean a few things
    - The report is based on a really screwy SQL query
    - The report source is PL/SQL
Are there any report triggers, if so, what are they doing?

However, I feel you can solve this issue simply by desking checking the report code. You should know the steps a report runs in so just check each individual step where that parameter is being used. If it's used in a query, anywhere, double check the operation from within a SQL session to verify that it still works at that step.

Either there's a coding error in the report or you have a bad data row that's crashing your process.

    Hi CJ

The parameter is mandatory , and is a character data type e.g 'MAR-2014' ,it works for all others like'FEB-2014' etc.
    I have checked the sql

I found the following part in the query is giving me the problem... if i comment it out.. is has no error buy oviously few records go missing.
can u plz suggest on it.

    AND mta.transaction_date = trunc(mmt.transaction_date)
    AND trunc(mmt.transaction_date)
    + 0.99999

If I do As following... it works.. but its not correct for my report..... it is missing records

    AND mta.transaction_date = mmt.transaction_date
    AND trunc(mmt.transaction_date)
    + 0.99999

    Thanks and Regards

That it works for FEB-2014 and not for MAR-2014 would seem to indicate a bad row(s) of data in either mta or mmt table, especially given that the parameter doesn't appear present in the snippet given. Also, the following :

    AND trunc(mmt.transaction_date) + 0.99999

is not a condition...that's a result, unless you cut something off.

If you haven't already, you might run this issue across the membership at www.OAUG.org although, to review past papers and articles you'd have to be a member. That said, I've always found the OAUG membership worth it.
