    Hi

    I need to search for a text like 'abc-xyz' in UCM. I am using 10gR3 version and using Full-Text indexing.
    But UCM uses the dash(-) as an ‘exclude’ operator in Search.
    I made various attempts to escape the dash as below, but all failed to return a result.

    abc-xyz
    abc\-xyz
    "abc-xyz"
    "abc\-xyz"
    (abc-xyz)
    (abc\-xyz)
    {abc-xyz}
    {abc\-xyz}

    Can you please help on this if you know.

    Thanks
    Siva

    We need more info. What service are you calling and what parameters are you passing?

    add the following variable in your config.cfg or use admin server page

    AdditionalEscapeChars=-:#

    restart the server and it should do the trick. You might need to re-build the index if the results still didn't show up.

    That's a pretty server-specific change. I wonder if there is a way to do this in general.

    What exactly does this do? The documentation says that it maps - to #, but it isn't clear what that means.
