problem with connecting with users

    hi i am facing a new problem while using" oracle 10g XE"
    when i creating a user by giving command "Create User username identified by password"
    then when i want to connect by giving "Connect username/password".it is not connected
    and the error messege is given that"ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement".
    what is this type error what should i do?....sharifmd

    hi what tool are u using? I presume you are working in SQL Plus, right? so what user are you connecting as? can u connect directly?

    i use SQL plus.
    first i connect with system .
    then i create another user and
    that begins the problem.(can not connect)showing the error messege is given that"ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement"....
