    I am using TOAD 9.0.1 and oracle 10.1.0.2.0
    They are installed at the same drive.
    The TNSNAMES.ora file is in "F:\ORACLE\NETWORK\ADMIN"
    It's as bellow:

    ORCL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    )
    )

    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    )
    )

    The sqlnet.ora is as bellow:

    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

    but when TOAD STARTS,The "TOAD DATABASE LOGIN" window appears.
    I used the following data:

    username:scott
    password:tiger
    TNS database:ORCL
    HOST:localhost
    port:1521
    service_name:eek:rcl
    connect as:normal

    In the installed clients box the "connect using" text box is automatically set as:"OraDb10g_home1"
    When I click "connect" ora-12514 error apperas.
    please help.

    Do you have only one ORACLE_HOME or more than one? If you have only one, try restarting the tnslistener service. If you have more than one home, try using the other one in the drop-down of "connect using"
