    Hi,
I was trying to install UCM server with the help of sadik's article. I have successfully installed the Oracle10gR3 and Apache 2.2 web server. When I install UCM and check in log.txt files for errors then it says that cannot connect to database and could not initialize the database. It asks me to check for username, password and connection string. I checked it and I am able to succefully connect through same username and password for sql plus.

    1) In the steps it says the following services should be on

    - oracle database services
    - IDC Content Admin Service idc_admin
    - IDC Content Service idc.

All but one services are running. IDC Content Service idc is not running. When I try to start this service manually then it gives me following error.

Could not start the IDC Content Service idc service on local computer.
Error 1064: An exception occurred in the service when handling the control request.

When I try to connect it also gives the following error:

    File D:/UCM/data/users/userdb.txt cannot be found.

Please. Can anybody help me with this.

    Thanks.

    Hi sam

For the userdb file, it's not important. Just use the userdb.txt file i have attached and put it in that directory.

Your problem is with the IDC Content Service because that's the main service. If you say that you can connect with sqlplus, make sure that the Database variables in the file config.cfg are correct. Open your D:/UCM/Config/config.cfg and look at the Database variables section and make sure the JDBC connection string is correct.

hi sam, please attach these 3 files in this thread

    1. Goto start-->oracle content server-->idc-->utilities-->system properties. Click on Database tab and take a screen shot and attach the file here.
    2. Goto D:\UCM\install and attach the text file <DATE>-new.txt
    3. Attach the tnsnames.ora file

hmm in your system properties database tab you have connection string
    Code (Text):
    jdbc:oracle:thin@localhost:1521:orcl.
And in your tnsnames your orcl service has host 10.249.102.112.

Change your tnsnames.ora file and replace 10.249.102.112 with localhost and save. In your system properties database tab, re-type username and password and click ok. Restart oracle service and tnslistener service. Now first try to connect with sql plus using your ucm username and password and connection string orcl. If you can connect with sql plus, try to now start the content server service.

If however you fail when connecting with sql plus, try it the other way round. That is, let tnsnames.ora be as it is. In your database tab in system properties change connection string to
    Code (Text):
    jdbc:oracle:thin@10.249.102.112:1521:orcl
Now retype username and password and click "ok" and try to restart content server service.

    Ucm installation problem

    Hi Sadik,
I tried the both the option you gave me but it didnt help me. Infact befor I could connet with ucm/ucm@orcl using sqlplus. But after changing the tnsnames.ora file i am getting the following error by connecting to sqlplus.

    ORA-12514:TNS:no listener

Then i changed listner.ora after doing some research on google about what the error was about.
Now after changing I am getting following error

ORA-12514:TNS:listner does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.

If i try to connect with sysdba userid and password then it returns me the following error.

    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available.

I am also attaching two files : tnsnames.ora and listener.ora for your reference.

Please help me out with this.
    Thanks
    Sam.

In, tnsnames.ora change localhost to 10.249.102.112 and also in listener.ora

In system properties database tab change connection string to
    Code (Text):

    jdbc:oracle:thin@10.249.102.112:1521:orcl

Make sure that config.cfg also has
    Code (Text):

    JdbcConnectionString = jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.249.102.112:1521:orcl
You will at least be able to login with sql plus. Next try content server service.

So I presume you were succesfully able to install UCM and login, right?

Once again the above error shows that there is some problems finding tables in UCM. check your log.txt within install folder for what errors and warnings you faced. And secondly check your <UCM>weblayout\groups\secure\logs for detail description of the error.

    Hi Sadik, please help me..
I've tried to install UCM server in my XP laptop. I've followed instruction from this link:

    club-oracle.com/forums/installing-stellent-or-oracle-universal-content-management-t170

when it all finished and i tried to open "localhost/idc"

    its written error message:

"Access denied to UCM Server managed resource. Error loading credentials from master cache. File C:/UCM/data/users/userdb.txt cannot be found."

after that i added userdb.txt and tried to open it again, but it shows error again like this:

"Access denied to UCM Server managed resource. Error loading credentials from master cache. File C:/UCM/data/users/SecurityInfo.hda cannot be found."

what's wrong with my installation? I've attach my config.cfg (just rename the file and delete extension .txt)

I will very appreciate your help!

    thank you..

    Hi Sadik,

I am having problems making my content server up and running. I am unable to install the components which displays this message "The database table list was empty using a catalog of'(null)' and schema'UCM' you may need to configure the database schema explicitly using the configuration entry DatabaseSchemaName'

and If I try to start the iDC content service it says could not start the IDC local service on the local computer:error1064An exception error occured in the service when handling the control request"

I guess I might have made a mistake, sio I thought I ll reinstall. But how do I uninstall?

You should read the Oracle UCM documentation. See chapter G of the installation documentation for windows or unix.

I will give you a short description:

    Unix is simple:
    1. remove ucm directory
    2. remove db objects of UCM user
    3. remove webserver used by UCM
    4. remove scripts to start the UCM server instance which are run when the server is started.

    Windows:
    1. Open a command line and navigate to the bin-folder in the oracle ucm folder; default something like d:\oracle\ucm\contentserver\bin
    2. enter Installer UnregisterAll
    3. Remove the complete directory, all contentserver registry settings (search for "ucm", "content server', "idc" and absolutely "stellent"), remove the dbadmin user in the database and restart the server.

    Hi Syed,

I've been to a UCM partner training at Oracle last year. I have received several tutorials. I have uploaded 2 documents. I cannot upload the 3rd document to this message due to the fact that it is 0.5 mb to big (max for zip-files is 3 mb). Do you have an email adress where I can send the last document to? Or can Sadik help me to upload the documents?

I will advice you to look at the Oracle download site. I have not done a lot with Site Studio but I know that there have been a several important patches for Site Studio. You might want to install them first.

    Kind regards,

    Eric
