Does any body ever meet such a problem? Is there a method to solve this?
when i export the report as pdf files, the charactors show in a incorrect way.but when I save the pdf file in .txt format, they will show correctly.
Somebody says it results from report, some other people say it results from pdf reader(I am using adobe reader X).
Is there an efficient method to solve this?
    Thanks.

Even I too faced same problem, printing some junk characters. Due to lack of time in exploring what is happened , I simply approached xml publisher report.

I don't think these junk charactors have anything to do with the types or function of these reports, just all the labels ,including the title of the reports, will show junk charactors when Chinese charactors are used.

    Hi Bharat,

    No confusion. General report.

    1. Report developed with query and layout done in report builder
    2. Report Uploaded to server
    3. Report Registration Done and Output Type set to PDF.
    4. Now run the report.
    5. Junk characters in the report :(

I think this error will appear in while doing implementation, may be character set problem.

Thanks for the reply.I googled the question but didn't find the answer, somebody said when print in pdf format, enable one option when printing will work, but I even didn't see that option. And somebody said, this is because oracle reads charactors every byte, while adobe reader reads every two bytes. While, the problem is still here.

Just now had a discussion with my senior DBA.

RDF reports are outdated and now are developed in xml publisher and data template.
So Oracle is concentrating on simply Data Template thus character set is not set (which suits to rdf - pdf reports).

    For to fix this problem
    1. Character set has to be changed manually during installation or
    2. DBA needs to take backup and change the character set and run the related configuration tool (May needs to down the server).

Now I am on a way to explore in this route.
