We have a simple Criteria workflow running on our site, so that when a item is flagged with a particular metadata field = "Yes" it goes through a review process.

So far working fine when an item is put through Check-in, however, if someone just goes in and updates the content information so that meta-data = yes, it does not trip.

So - Is it possible to trip a workflow on update of meta-data as opposed (as well as) to checkin?

No in the current UCM R3 release it is only possible to use workflows on checkin and not un update. To create something you like, you should user Oracle BPEL, connect it to UCM, create a custom component which triggers a BPEL Workflow when an update of metadata is done in UCM.

UCM Default workflows can be use to do a lot, but will only be triggered upon checkin. For extra functionality, you have to use BPEL in combination with custom components.

To connect BPEL to UCM, a default component can be downloaded on the Oracle site. It is part of one of the UCM component packs; I believe it is the Content Server Document Management pack.

I hope this information will be useful for you.

    Kind regards,
