    Hi Guys.

I'm cloning a DB out of ASM and into UFS. I end up with a mounted DB .. and all the datafiles and tempfiles and archive logs residing on UFS. However when I try to restore the DB and then open it (using the resetlogs option) it bombs out with the following error:

    alter database open resetlogs
    *
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Process ID: 7814
Session ID: 85 Serial number: 9

When I check the alert log and trace files it's clear that the DB still has it's online redo logs set to an ASM location .. hence the problem. Sure enough when I check v$logfiles .. all the redo log members are on ASM.

The db_create_online_log_dest_1,2,3 init.ora parameters have been modified previously to point to a UFS location so I don't know why the DB is attempting to write the new redo to an ASM disk.

    Any ideas?

You can use the 'alter database rename file' cmd for each redo log in ASM ...
    Perhaps there's a better way?

Did you recreate the controlfile with the UFS locations for the redo logs?
