No, we can't. We can ask questions such as did you follow the pre-installation checklist? Does this Windows machine meet the minimum requirements for an Oracle 10g installation? Are you using an administrative account to install the Oracle software and create the database?

    Thanks Zargon for replying!

Yes I did what I did to a previous machine where I successfully install the Oracle 10g using the same product backup. My current machine is 2.3 Ghz having 1280 MB DDR, and I have admin rights.

The problem come which I try to create a DB instance.

I had the same issue, and it was resolved upon installing the Loopback adapter.

However, I am now experiencing issues connecting to my internet simultaneously with the newly installed loopback adapter. I did some research, which leads me to think I need to set up a Virtual Machine. Apparently, XP doesn't support this activity, only Windows 7.

So I went further and found that I could perhaps dl a free VMware player for XP. It says I have to use my WindowsXP CD, but I don't have it.

Does anyone have a recommendation on how I can achieve internet connection AND run the loopback adapter at the same time without having to set up a VM?

sigh. Thanks in advance for your help!

The loopback adapter is only necessary for systems not having internet access; you shouldn't need to use it now that you have an actual IP address.
