    Dear!

    I have Oracle 11g on Oracle VM on Linux.
    If I set the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST on local disk::
    Example:
    . . .
    log_archive_dest_1='location=/oraarch_log/oraarch/'
    . . .
    where /oraarch_log/oraarch is local disk, the Oracle run o.k.

    If I set the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST on NFS disk::
    Example:
    . . .
    log_archive_dest_1='/mnt/orabackup/rman/rub-blade'
    . . .
    The Oracle returns an error:

    ORA-19504: failed to create file ""
    or
    Unable to create archive log file '/mnt/orabackup/rman/rub-blade/log_1_144_857207900_33b548dc.arc'
    ARC3: Error 19504 Creating archive log file to '/mnt/orabackup/rman/rub-blade/log_1_144_857207900_33b548dc.arc'

    How to save this error!

    Regards

    Hine

    It's probably mounted incorrectly. Check the mount options and correct any errors.

    Have you checked the write permissions on the directory, owner and group ?

    Can you simply create a dummy file in that directory using the oracle account - the one which owns the database ?
