    Hi folks

Can anyone point me to the right direction to resolve this very strange error I am facing. I say strange because the database runs for a while absolutely fine and suddenly this error comes up:

ora-12528: TNS:Listener: All Appropriate instances are blocking new connections

What is the resolution for this?

Well I googled this for you

ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections

Cause: All instances supporting the service requested by the client reported that they were blocking the new connections. This condition may be temporary, such as at instance startup.

Action: Attempt the connection again. If error persists, then contact the administrator to check the status of the instances.

And this is what came up from one another forum:

Hello thanks for the replies guys. Sameer your solution was close. This is what I read and how i finally resolved the problem:
This is how i checked the status of the listener:
    Code (Text):

    # lsnrctl
    LSNRCTL> status

Then I bounced the LISTENER as follows:
    Code (Text):

    LSNRCTL> stop
    LSNRCTL> start

Now finally I restarted the instance with sqlplus with sysdba privileges, making sure all parameters are set.
    Code (Text):

    SQL> startup

Hopefully this will help someone else facing the same problem.
