Hi I am new to this site and new to Oracle. In fact I have no real experience with databases at all. I have Windows 7 and decided to download Oracle Database 11g to learn. Some how I ran it and then a beige window box comes up called "Oracle Database 11g release 2 Installer-Installing database - step 1 of 9." Then it says Configure security updates enter email and password which I do then I hit next, and on the next screen it asks me for .....

    Specific proxy server information

    proxer server

    a proxy port

    proxy username

    and proxy password.

Not sure what any of it means or did I do something wrong. can someone tell me what my next step is to install the database?

    Thanks in advance !

You start over and choose the 'I don't want to be notified' selection and move on. For this purpose you don't need to configure automatic updates since you do not have an Oracle CSI number or support contract.

google.com is your friend, it would benefit you to use it. You'll find the information you're asking for there.
