    Hi, everyone

We want to migrate data with the volume 100GB from Oracle 8i to Oracle 10g. We are trying to migrate the data with the tool IMP/EMP. However , I have some basic questions:
    (1) The migrating process may take many hours, maybe 50 hours and more, can we reduce that?
    (2) In the migrating process, if some error happens, do we have to restart the migrating process from the beggining.

We are trying to do that for the first time, so please don't mind my basic questions.

    Thanks for your time.

Not sure why you are using exp/imp tool for upgrading the database. Are you migrating from one O.S to another?

The best way with least down time would be to :
    1) Install 10g binaries in the 8i server.
    2) Upgrade the database to 10g.
    3) Clone the database in the new server.

This steps are applicable only if you have a fast network between these two servers.
