A "Real time" interface is a type of interface where there is immediate / instantaneous (or close to instantaneous ...) information exchange between the two systems.
The response of course depends on the access speed between the two system and several factors come into play, like the network link, database access or message speed processing ...

Several ways to build these "real-time" interfaces, common ones (in the Apps Technical world) include Oracle Apps XML Gateway, Web Services or traditional Http Post.

    Hello

Interface: If any industry eg. Manufacturing industry uses 2 systems 1)Oracle Apps 2)Legacy or 3rd party system . They use Oracle apps to enter transactions from order to shipments and use Legecy or 3rd party system to maintain their accounts .

Once any order is shipped to customer invoice details will be available in oracle apps but those information should move to their accounting system i.e legacy system . This is the continuous process for their orders . In this scenario Interface will come into picture.

Conversion: Conversion and migration both of the term is used interchangeably If any industry upgrading from Oracle apps lower version to higher version or from 3rd party system to oracle apps . The data should move from old system to new system. In this scenario Conversion and migration will come into picture.

API: As per my knowledge oracle has provided many Application Program Interfaces, which are standard stored procedure, package or functions created for performing specific activities in the Oracle Apps E-Business Suite.
Eg: API - pos_vendor_pub_pkg.create_vendor uses for creation of AP supplier
