Custom components can be made through Component Wizard Utility which can be accessed from the machine on which CS is installed.

:: Steps to create a sample component ::

    1. Open up the Component Wizard.
    2. Click Add to add a new component.
    3. Name the component HelloUser, and click OK in all open dialog boxes.
    4. Wait for the Component Wizard to create and open the HelloUser component.
    5. In the Resource Definitions tab, click Add.
    6. Select Resource–HTML Include/String and click Next.
    7. Name the include hello_user, and in the text box type the following code:
    <h1>Hello <$UserName$>!</h1>
    8. Click Finish.
    9. In the menu, select Options ➤Enable to enable the component.
    10. Restart the Content Server.

    Hi , i have a small doubt !

I just want to create a button, and i want to define a action for that particular button..
let me explain with a use case,

I click the new checkin --> the metadata page gets displayed with 20 fields, out of which 4 are mandatory fields, like title, doctype etc...

What i want is, i want to have the first 4 mandatory field in one page, and i want to include a "button named next" ... When i give next, i want the remaining 16 fields to get displayed in the next page , and in the 2nd page.. i want to have the checkin button.

Please help me giving an answer with a neat example. I'm struggling with this since i'm new to UCM.
