    Hi,

I have a field as number datatype to enter the mobile numbers of pensioners. By oversight wildcard like %, $, # are being entered in this field leading to data errors while sending SMS alert to pensioners.

Is there any way to restrict entering these wild card while data entry.

If so any code that should be done in the field may be suggested please.

    thanks in advance

    Hi,

    Is this Oracle application form?

If yes, we can do form personalization

    • If you are using Application Express as a front-end, the data can be restricted.
    • If you are using PL/SQL to process the data, you can add checks against the entered data.
    • If you have access to change the base tables, you can add a trigger to generate a meaningful error.

Without more information on your particular situation, it is impossible to suggest a solution that is guaranteed to be applicable. From your description, the best check will be on the user entry screen, but you have not provided what that interface is based on.
