    Hi all

I have a query , which has got to do with both functional and technical knowledge.

HRMS--> People--> enter and Maintain screen. I query for an employee and navigae to absences.

Now i want here to change the available balance for a leave type for the employee.

    My questions are,

    Technical:
I get FRM-40200: Filed is against updation error. How to solve this. Im ust be able to enter the values manually.

    Functional:
Is it possible to change the running total manually, for a leave type.

hi i am a technical person so I can't give you much functional solution but the FRM-40200 is not really an error. It means that you are trying to make an entry in a read-only or non-updateable field.

And about the HRMS thing, I believe to modify the leave balances one has to define some elements and absense management setups. Sorry I can't be more specific, but this link should help you. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A60725_05/html/comnls/us/per/absmt05.htm#abssteps

as far as I know you cannot enter leave balances like that. You need to define your leave elements and enter the default values from the element link window. I haven't done HRMS setup just looked it in my instance.

  5. Hello frnz,
You wont be able to change the leave balance until and unless you make changes in all other related or linked records. Normally leave balance are not modified directly.

As far as the technical error message is concerned, this error occurs when u try to modify the values of a field for which Update Allowed property has been set to NO.

    Hi "vamsi"
For Your "FRM-40200" Problem the Solution is,
Set the "Update Property" of Both "the object" & "data block" to "TRUE"

    Simple

    Hi Vamsi,

    Technical: -
The field (Running Total)is non-update-able. So its not possible to enter manually.
    Functional: -
Due to non-update-able field its showing that error which you are trying to enter something into that field.

Dont try to change the seeded functionality by customizing the form, it has seeded feature that calculating Number of Absents and salary cuttings if rule is applied.

    Hi Vamsi,

The field "Running Total" Explains till date how many leaves you have taken for that particular absence type.
Why you are trying to update that field?
Running total increase when u applied one more leave for same absence type.

    I see the suggestion:

For Your "FRM-40200" Problem the Solution is,
Set the "Update Property" of Both "the object" & "data block" to "TRUE"

But where are you suggesting we do this?? Can you 'walk me through it'?

    Thanks
