Forget Password of SYS or SYSTEM user

    Hi all,
    kindly help me with this problem,i wanted to create a new user from SYS or SYSTEM scehma but i forgot the password.how do i get the password or is it possible to assign a new password to SYS or SYSTEM.
    pls suggest me.

    See if this works. Not too sure though

    Open a command prompt. Set the Oracle SID and try this

    Code (Text):
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    alter user system identified by newpassword;

    What Tyro is telling is to

    Go to the Server in case DB is in remote Server (You need to have server and SID credentials ; Not needed if you go directly to Oracle Home )
    Try connecting sys directly from there as suggested by him
    Then alter the system for the password.
