    HI,

I need to create a flat file with all DMLs (inserts) extracted from an existing schema.

Tried Database Export Tool in SQL Developer but it does not include the CLOB

Anyone has an idea on how to do this ?

    Tks !

    Hi "JP",

Initially SQL Developer didn't support export of CLOB data at all. However, in some versions, the export of first 4K characters is supported and in certain export types (like XML, SQL*Loader), even more characters are supported.

I have Version 4 and the DMLs (insert) are not supported but it works fine for export type SQL*Loader (and XML - which I don't use generally).

    Alternatives:
    1) If you have access to the database server, then you may use UTL_FILE. Have a look at this article which provides all the details:
    http://oracle-base.com/articles/8i/export-clob.php

    2) I've heard TOAD supports the export of CLOB ... but ... it's not free !

    HTH.
