    Hi Experts,

When I try to open the rdf file from Report Builder, the program is terminated. I also try rwconverter to convert rdf to rex but the result is same -- program is terminated.

Is there any solution to fix the rdf file? Please suggest.

    Thanks..
    Nidjarin

    Hi Nidjarin ,

How you have downloaded the .rdf from the server?

If through Winscp then while downloading/coping change the transfer format from Default to Binary. Then try ....

    Hope it will work....

    Hi Sambasiva,

Thanks for your response. The server is Windows based, we copy the file in BINARY mode, not text mode.

Is there any other solution? Please help.

    Thanks,
    Nidjarin

This is customized application -- not EBS reports. The report was built on 6i, but now we are trying to migrate them to 10g. The same report could not be opened on both 6i and 10g.

This can happen if the report in question has some attached libraries that it can't find when trying to open the rdf...sort of freaks out the Report engine.

You might also have a bad Oracle Report installation...but that's fairly rare.

Thanks, but there is no plsql library used in those reports. One more thing, converting to REX file cause program terminated as well.

This may seem to be a stupid question...but does the Report Builder open at all w/o trying to open the RDF? Can you build a sample report in it, save it, close, reopen?

There is no pll used in this application (checking from runtime files). Maybe the source code is not recoverable.

Is it possible to convert .REP to .RDF? We have .REP which is running fine.

This is the legacy application that customer developed themselves but the development team was gone. We have to migrate everything to 10g.

    Thanks,

You cannot convert an REP to RDF...perhaps logging the session to see what query is being run via the report?
