Hi folks, is there a way to connect Oracle 10G Database on a solaris with a dblink to DB2 v8 in AIX.

Google is not helping much either, does anybody have any experience in this? thanks for your comments

I have never done this myself, but you have to install is called Oracle Transparent Gateways.

Transparent Gateways are used to enable access to other data sources as if you are connecting to another Oracle database. Using these Transparent Gateways, you can interact with foreign databases like DB2 or MSSQL Server without worrying about differences in SQL implementation.

I believe one can also perform distributed processing. by utilising the transparent gateways. check out this link for Oracle's documentation.

To create a database link between Oracle and DB2 you need to install and use a Database Gateway.
