Asm vs file systems

    Hi Matthews,
    Currently, we are working on standalone non-asm databases. So, we would like to upgarde to 12c with ASM. So, we are decommissioning the databases. Now, we are planning to go for ASM for 12c databases. So, Could please let me know the pros and cons for ASM and file systems.

    That's not a simple answer. Some people love ASM, others hate it. There are numerous articles and forum postings from people giving their reasons why they like (or dislike) ASM. Google "asm vs file system" and you'll get several dozen. For the most part, I'd recommend reading the most recent ones, as ASM has undergone numerous enhancements since being introduced.
